I was recently offered the opportunity to be gainfully employed again. This was not something I had planned and did not apply for the job. I was contacted by a former boss turned friend, who was putting together her team for the busy tourist season and she told me that I was the first person who came to mind. As she told me about the job I became equally excited about the position and also very unsure about whether or not I could do it. The job itself is a perfect fit for my personality but not having been employed for so long due to my health issues, I was afraid of the toll it might take on my body.
Originally I was scheduled to have a few hours in May and June that would build up to a very busy July and August. This eased my concerns because I felt like the slow build to the busy season would allow my system to adjust more easily. When another department came up short staffed and in a lurch, I was asked if I'd be willing to fill in some gaps until the work in the other department picked up. Again I was thrilled to be singled out to help, but the sudden uptick in hours "on the clock" has proved a challenge for me. As I write this, I am incredibly thankfully for a rare weekend off because the extra hours have indeed taken their toll on my body and I am struggling to stave off an upper respiratory infection from really taking hold.
I planned on doing a lot of nothing today, but when I came across this article on my Facebook newsfeed I felt compelled to share my thoughts. Please read this story and then continue reading below to find out why I felt it necessary to say something to those of you willing to listen to my ramblings.
1. Wow....just wow!
2. This story is a prime example of what is wrong with our government today and how it is increasingly overstepping its bounds.
3. This story is also a prime example of what can happen when voices of reason join together to institute change, halt misguided direction and right a wrong.
7. OMFG! Have you seen what this man can do?!?
7. I love odd numbers and I love some of them more than others.
33. You don't always have to conform to the rules that society has deemed acceptable...just as long as you aren't hurting anyone in the process.
13. What kind of personal balance must you have to find the true balance in others and exploit it in such an amazing manner?
17. This is not just art, but a lesson physics, patience, and meditation.
31. This proves (on more than one level) that even though things may not look like they fit together, they can not only come together for the greater good, but they can do so with such beauty and grace that you'll question why you ever thought they shouldn't be together in the first place.
13. THIS is the kind of balance I dream of achieving in my life.
I thought if I needed this little reminder, perhaps you might too.
Until next time, friends. Be well, find your balance, and #BeTheGood.
